BROADCASTING INTERNSHIPS (SUMMER and FALL)

The purpose of these internships is to give a student a unique opportunity to help in the day to day operations of a broadcast department for an NFL franchise while earning college credit.

The Baltimore Ravens' television department is responsible for our preseason games, six weekly television shows, six weekly radio shows, the video and audio presentation of our stadium screens during home games, and our online media player. At present, the department is made up of five individuals who work in concert to write, edit, shoot and produce all material that is, RAVE-TV.

What we are looking for are dedicated, hard-working individuals who are interested in utilizing some of their own production skills as well as learning new skills thru hands-on experience.

These internships will last one semester and must be done through your student advisor for college credit. We will try and be flexible with the schedule but these internships will involve working some Saturdays or Sundays. You do not have to know everything about football but a working knowledge of the sport would help.

Requirements:
* Must be able to obtain college credit
* Must have housing accommodations and reliable transportation to Owings Mills, MD
* Must be available 20 hours per week including some weekends
* Must have working knowledge of professional football
* Please state whether you are applying for the summer or fall internship or both

This production internship will involve assisting in field shoots, possible game day production assistance, logging, charting, research, and basic editing.

Overview

An internship with the Orioles is a winning combination for both the Orioles and the student. Our internship program allows the student to gain valuable work experience within a professional baseball team. As the employer, we benefit by receiving valuable work contributions from the student. All internships are un-paid and must count toward academic credit.

Requirements
Students seeking an internship should meet the following criteria:

  • Current student in a college/university with at least 2.75 overall GPA and a 3.0 major GPA, with a declared major. Stu-dent may also be seeking an advanced degree.
  • Ideal candidates should have excellent communication, computer and organizational skills.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision and have a fan-friendly attitude.
  • During the off-season, interns should be available Monday through Friday, from 9-5.
  • During the season interns will follow the schedule set by the department and baseball schedule. This may include work-ing days, evenings, weekends and holidays.

We are currently seeking interns for the following positions:

Corporate Sales and Sponsorship - (Fall Term, Spring Term, Summer Term)
The intern will work with contracts and proposals for sponsorship accounts. This may include providing fulfillment duties for existing accounts and creating new proposals to sell sponsorship inventory throughout the park, using Power-Point and other computer aided programs. The intern will assist with promotions and game day events related to servicing of sponsor contracts. Examples are bat-boy/bat-girl program, lucky seat number, first pitches, etc. The intern will also assist with ticket requests and special needs of sponsors as they attend Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Interns will also re-search and work on special assignments as needed.

Ballpark Operations - (Fall Term, Spring Term, Summer Term)
This intern will play a large role in ballpark operations on game days, by helping to oversee a staff of approximately 200 event staff employees. The intern will also assist the department by maintaining a variety of reports/logs that pertain to the safe and efficient operation of the ballpark. Examples are Suite Repair Inspection Log, Restroom Inspection Log and Fan Inquiry Log. This individual will assist with special projects and reports as needed, aid the Manager of Ballpark Operations in overseeing the Event Staff, as well as help with general clerical duties.

Sales & Fan Services - (Fall Term, Spring Term, Summer Term)
The intern will take an active role in both the phone unit and box office, thereby gaining value knowledge in both the sales and operations of this department. The intern will answer general fan inquiries while working in the phone unit, and will assist with special projects and reports as needed. Selling game-day tickets and printing will-call tickets are some of duties the intern will perform while working in the box office. The intern will also assist with scheduling, generating phone statistics and assisting with other tasks related to the administration of the department.

Productions - (Fall Term, Spring Term, Summer Term)
The productions intern will be responsible for recording, tape logging, cataloging and dubbing tapes, as well as re-searching information to be used on future projects. This internship may also include operating video cameras, editing, and other production responsibilities. The intern must have experience using Media 100 and Final Cut Pro equipment.

Public Relations - (Fall Term, Spring Term, Summer Term)
The intern will learn and develop skills in dealing with the media and public by working in the public relations office. The intern will compile daily press clips, respond to phone and mail inquiries from the media and fans, maintain player press clip files, assist with team publications and research statistics. Prior experience with a sports team or college sports information office is preferred, but not required. The applicant must be willing to work nights and weekends during the season.

Publishing - (Fall Term, Spring Term, Summer Term)
An internship in publishing will give the student experience in creative project design. The intern will work closely with all departments to produce layouts for a wide range of projects, including signage, brochures, posters, flyers and promotional items. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in Mac OS X, Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop, and also have some page-design experience. Applicants should also be detail-oriented, able to handle multiple projects and well-organized.

Photography - (Summer Term)
The photography intern will assist the Team Photographer with daily tasks, including fulfilling photo requests, downloading and editing photographs and maintaining team archives. The internship also provides the opportunity to shoot game action and candid photography during Orioles home games. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in Mac OS X, Adobe Photoshop and Photo Mechanic or a similar program and have completed two years of coursework in a photography program. The applicant must be willing to work nights and weekends.

Promotions and Entertainment - (Fall Term, Spring Term, Summer Term)
The intern's primary responsibility will be to assist the Communications department in planning and facilitation of special events. Whether it is FanFest, Opening Day or a pre-game ceremony, this intern will enhance skills related to planning and prioritizing. Additional duties may include assisting with our award-winning Mascot program and Kid's Dugout Club program.
